Description
Built to protect the very low hanging intercooler of the 2019+ Cummins trucks from the most common trail, worksite and road hazards, the Intercooler Guard offers a robust and weatherproof way to keep your truck on the road. The reality of damage to the intercooler is that, since this is a pressurized component that lives downstream of the turbo and air filter, if you puncture your intercooler you cannot run your engine or drive your truck. To drive with a damaged intercooler would prevent you from building boost at best, and at worst – at idle – the engine can suck unfiltered air from just above ground level! This guard is a lighter duty option not made for crashing against boulders, but is a great, super easy installation item that protects against the most common killers of intercoolers: road debris, branches on forest roads, and animal strikes. The guard offers a robust stainless steel plate with a healthy mix of needed airflow and protected area, that mounts to factory threaded holes, with proper spacing away from the intercooler and integral drainage. The guard has bends at the bottom to reinforce it and offer crush area at the bottom before making contact with the intercooler. This component is great for overlanders, weekend campers, trucks that see a lot of highway miles, contractor and jobsite use, and fleet outfitting.
